A ‘digital friend’ for the residents of the Toontjeshuis

Fourteen young adults with a disability are moving into the first Toontjeshuis in Boom. Thanks to a digital ‘all-in-one’ communication hub that IT company Userfull developed especially for them, they receive care and support more easily — including remotely. With Venture Campus’s help, Userfull secured a €261,849 VLAIO grant for it.

Living more independently

The user-friendly technology was developed with input from residents and their parents. Beyond a digital call-and-alert system and a calendar, it also includes, for example, a digital photo book — all tailored to the resident.

Staying at home longer

The technology will be integrated across all Toontjeshuizen, but in time it is also applicable to other care facilities and can even help people stay at home independently for longer.

The technology we built goes far beyond a classic emergency-call system and lets residents live and stay even more independently — all tailored to them.Lisa Slisli — projectmanager, Userfull
