The Ecologiepremie+ is a financial contribution to companies making sustainable, technological investments in the Flemish Region. With the Ecologiepremie+ the Flemish government wants to encourage companies to organise their production process in an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient way. Interesting, because the investment costs of such projects are usually high.

Which business investments qualify?
Cooling
This category covers cooling technologies for which grants are available, ranging from systems based on surface water, residual heat and natural refrigerants to cryogenic solutions using CO₂ or air. Adiabatic pre-cooling, cascade and indirect cooling systems and energy recovery also fall under it, as do transport-cooling applications and supporting infrastructure. All projects are aimed at more sustainable and more energy-efficient cooling solutions.
Transport
This category covers projects around sustainable transport. It concerns the purchase or conversion of electric vehicles such as buses, trucks, light freight and off-road machinery, but also hydrogen solutions with fuel cells or dual-fuel systems. In addition there are investments in charging infrastructure, hydrogen refuelling installations, shore power for ships and facilities to shift freight transport from road to rail or water. These projects give companies the chance to make their transport greener, more efficient and future-oriented.
Heat / heating
This category subsidises projects around sustainable heat supply and heating. It includes connection to existing heat networks, geothermal heat, chemical heat pumps and the production of heat from biomass or waste water. Technologies for recovering residual energy, solar thermal systems and heat recovery on professional equipment such as dishwashers also fall under it. In addition, cooperation between companies is encouraged via heat pipelines to make optimal use of residual or renewable heat, with a focus on energy efficiency and climate-friendly solutions.
Water
This category covers projects around water purification and reuse. It includes recovering phosphates from waste water via struvite installations, treating water with electrocoagulation, and purifying waste or low-grade water with techniques such as reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration or membrane bioreactors. These technologies enable efficient reuse of water and contribute to sustainable production processes.
How much grant can I obtain?
The grant provided amounts to 10 to 55% of the investment cost.

Frequently asked questions
Does every green investment qualify for the Ecologiepremie+?+
No, the Ecologiepremie+ works with a limitative list of technologies. Only specific investments on this official list (certain heat pumps, electric machines, water-purification systems …) qualify. Not on the list? Then we look at other options together, such as the GREEN grant or strategic ecology support. So first check whether your planned machine matches the technical conditions on the list exactly.
How much grant can I get for my investment?+
The amount depends entirely on the technology you invest in; a fixed percentage is set for every approved installation on the list. It is calculated on the additional cost: the price difference between the sustainable machine and a standard, less environmentally friendly variant. SMEs receive higher support than large companies. Over three years you can receive up to €1 million. Only the necessary parts count; if the invoice comes in lower, the support is adjusted proportionally.
May I order a machine before the application is submitted?+
No. The investment may only start on the first day of the month following your application. Submit in April and your first invoice or signed commitment may be dated no earlier than 1 May. An invoice received or a final contract signed before that forfeits your right to the grant. Requesting a quotation is fine — just wait with the final order until the right month.
Can the Ecologiepremie+ be combined with other support measures?+
Not for exactly the same machine or installation. There may be no overlap with other VLAIO support, premiums from Fluvius for instance, or the federal investment deduction. It is "either-or": you choose the instrument that gives you the most benefit. We help you choose.
What is the difference between the Ecologiepremie+ and strategic ecology support?+
The Ecologiepremie+ uses a fixed list of standard technologies and a fixed support percentage — fast and accessible. Strategic ecology support (STES) is meant for investments in technologies not on that list: bespoke, essential components or more unusual environmental technology, with a tailored file and a percentage set per project. If your technology is not on the limitative list, STES is often the right track. We determine together which instrument fits your investment.
