Flemish start-up Sealution developed a network of receivers that enables internal communication aboard sea vessels, and raised over €1.3 million. Venture Campus secured around €315,000 of that through a VLAIO grant track.
The Apple Home of a sea vessel
Sealution installs ‘gateways’ in every compartment, sending data signals through the steel walls over existing cabling. A central module analyses everything and shows it on the bridge. Bluetooth uses little energy and does pass through steel.
More sustainable, safer, more efficient
With machine data and AI, a vessel can eventually sail on less fuel, maintenance becomes predictable and safety improves — if someone falls overboard, an alarm triggers automatically via wearables.
